The 2026 dumpling recalls
In September 2026 two dumpling squishy products were recalled in the United States over water beads that expand beyond the limit set by 16 CFR 1250.4. About 15,200 units were involved. The rule took effect on 12 March 2026, so the products were compliant when designed and non-compliant when sold.
The pattern behind most toy recalls
Recalls rarely come from a supplier cutting corners on purpose. Squishy recalls come from a rule changing, a material substitution nobody flagged, or a report that covered the material but not the finished design. All three are visible in advance if you ask the right question.

Three questions that prevent most of it
What is inside the fill, in writing. Does the test report cover this exact design or only the material. What changed since the last batch, including the resin supplier. A supplier who answers all three quickly is a supplier who tracks their own inputs.
What a recall costs an importer
Beyond the units, it is the retailer relationship. A shop that pulls your product from a shelf does not reorder next season. Lost reorders are why squishy compliance is a commercial question, not a legal one.
How we handle it
Solid micro-beads in TPR gel instead of water beads, a written no-water-bead statement, and a Children's Product Certificate issued per batch. Report numbers and laboratory on request.
