The realism trade-off
Food squishies sell on realism — a croissant that looks baked, a donut with glossy icing. But a toy that looks exactly like food raises mouthing risk for younger children and confuses adults at a glance. The top brands solve it with a small embossed face or a slightly cartoon proportion. Ask your supplier to show both versions before you choose.

Compliance
Scented food shapes need an IFRA declaration; painted surfaces need the heavy-metals test in ASTM F963-23; every piece needs a CPC citing the report numbers.
